A light rattling sound when cold but perfect when hot - cam chain tensioner?

I have recently bought a SRAD 750 that had been stored for 16 years. I have stuck a 1000 miles on it and it is very good, it's great to be back on a 750 SRAD.

That said, I notice when cold there is a light rattling sound which disappears when up to temperature. It sounds perfect when warm.

I've noticed people swapping the cam chain tensioner and also people swapping them for manual ones.

Do you think this could be related to my rattle? What is the advantage of a manual tensioner over a sprung one?

Thanks in advance.

The problem with the CCT is that they can be prone to backing off allowing the cam timing to slip, manual ones get fitted to ensure it doesn't happen.
