hi there ive just turned 20 and looking to start doing my biking lessons as i am itching for gsxr they are just stunning!! i know i wont be able to drive one atm due to my age.

anyway im looking at getting my CBT and getting a 125 however a supervisor in my work drives a ZZR and has told me i should, if i can afford just the bike i want and get it restricted to 125 ???? im not sure if this is possible or wise? would i learn much on such a large bike or should i get something smaller build with smaller tyres etc? i dont know really where to start. ( i know i need a licence before the jokes come rolling in :p )

any information or anything would be really good i would appreciate it alot.

thanks guys/girls

indeed where to start.
the law changed in january so no you have to jump through hoops to get a licence.
First CBT, this then means you can have a 125 on the road with L plates. you then only have two years to take a test or you have to do the CBT again.
The test after the CBT will be the A2 test so you can ride upto 46BHP for a further two years.
Then you need to take another test to ride unlimited.
I think i have got it right but you can check on the DVLA site i think.

thanks for the reply mate! i see would it be wise to get a bike and restrict it would mean saving the hassle of selling up etc? or would i not learn much on the big bike or is this method not even possible...

Yes its possable and thats what people do. but only after you have done the A2 test. After your CBT you can only really have a 125 which to be fair if you have no experience at all is what you need.
after the A2 test you can get a bigger bike and fit a restriction kit to bring it down to 46BHP, however, you can only restrict a bike whos BHP is not more than double your allowable BHP in standard form. If you know what i mean.

Hi Dylan, welcome to the club, have you got your bike yet?

The way I learned was by riding around on an RS 125 for around a year, that allegedly gave me my "road sense" as I did my bike test before my car one, but that way I only needed 3 lessons and I passed. They have changed the rules around so much now :(
