K1 exhaust question

Hi folks.

I recently bought a 2001 K1 which is fitted with a Yoshimura exhaust. It sounds beautiful. With it I got a standard can (I believe) however there appears to be a difference and I was wondering if you could clarify for me.

The spare can is fitted with an exhaust control valve however I cannot find, on the bike, the cables or the servo unit this connects to. I have been told by some that the K1 never came with the exhaust control valve and that is the reason I cannot find the cables or the servo unit.

Is this correct and if so, would this can with the exhaust control valve fitted and in the open position, swap straight over if I wished?

Pretty sure that other exhaust is for a later model. 2001 did not have any kind of exhaust control on it.

Step 1 Take standard can.
Step 2 Place standard can in the 'can' (bin)
Step 3 Enjoy the sweet noise from the Yoshi exhaust.
