i notice on the really hottest days if i ride my 06 1000 to work or even just to the store; if i cant find a shady spot and the bike sits in the direct sun for a time ,it sometimes wont start on my first attempt . usually on my second hit of the button she starts right up. this dosnt always happen but when it does its only on a really hot day in direct sun. my battery is always kept on a trickle charge and only a yr old. any thoughts or similar stories?

Cheap petrol maybe? I tried using shell v-power a while back and the difference I noticed was that it fired on the button every time. Done the same in my mk5 golf gti aswell, started first turn of the key every time. Maybe try switching to the higher octane petrol first, or the spark plugs might be due a change.
