Hi, first time here, so hope you don't mind me diving in and asking a daft question 
I took front sprocket off a while ago and today tried to fit the new one. I've changed dozens of sprockets in the past, but it doesn't seem obvious this time.
First of all, the big washer I found near the bike, doesn't fit over the spline to butt up to the sprocket. But the big nut seems to have be designed to fit over the spline to butt against the sprocket.
So, is there supposed to be a washer there, and if so, what internal dimension?
Or am I being daft?
