GSXR 750 Ignition issue

Hi All,
Wondering if you guys can help me. I left my key in the bike and washed it over the weekend. couple of days later tried to start the bike but the key won't turn. locks the steering and unlocks it just fine. fuel cap opens etc but I have to attempt it few times before the ignition would turn on. quick read around net mentioned transponder chip. I've ordered a suzuki blank and thinking of moving the transponder to the new key. good or bad? anything else I can try?

Possibly you are using too much water pressure when you wash your bike. Try squirting some powdered graphite in the key slots and then put your key in and give it a few turns. This should free it up if it is just sticky. Best of luck and I hope this helps. Anyone else with an idea?
