Buying my first bike.

Hi Guys.

First post, so hope it's in the correct place.

I have put a small deposit down on a 2001 GSXR 600. The bike is over 3 hours away, so have only seen pictures. I know nothing about bikes but cannot bring anyone with me as i'm going straight from work on Friday to pick it up. I live in Swindon but work in London.

The bike is located in Chorley, Lancashire. For a fee, could someone in that area meet me on Friday about 6pm to have a good go over and check its worth buying. Don't want to end up with a lemon. It currently has 40,000 miles on the clock, so pretty high, which is why I'm keen for someone with experience to take a look.

You have put a deposit down on a bike you haven't seen and it has 40,000miles on the clock??? If I was you, I would ask for your deposit back and look for a bike closer to home with a lot less miles. Sorry for being so blunt but I think the bike won't be worth travelling for and will become a money pit with that many miles on it.
