Hello
Back on 2 wheels after over 20 years!! just bought a GSXR1000 K3. On the ride home i noticed a screeching sound whilst deceleration. Anyone have a any ideas? sounds a bit like belt slipping on a car ?
Also need a new Ignition barrel and key as this is very worn, again any thoughts or direction on this i would appreciated it

Many thanks Phil

I can not help you with your screeching problem. However if you are back on two wheels after 20 years you are a good chance of being a statistic. Many returning riders in Australia have died because the bike they now own is far more powerful than the bikes they used to ride. Ease back into riding and stay safe.

Thanks for your post but its totally irrelevant to my question, you are coma#paring all other bikers to your friends skills which is wrong of you to do!! youre also assuming ill be riding like an idiot or that i am not a good rider. There are so many factors to riding a bike. I have come off in the past and was travelling at 5mph just setting off on a roundabout from a stationary start, so accidents can happen at any time for any reason, but thanks for your concern

Changing the ignition barrel and key can be done at home but the keys are chipped so I'd take it to a shop for that. The noise I'd be looking at wheel bearing, brake calipers to start with. And if you wanna ride a 1000 k3 after a 20yr break, in my eyes, you're old to know the bike is quick, you're not a naive 18yo, enjoy the bike, ride inside your limits and post loads of pics
