AC plug overheated 99 SRAD 750

The 3 black wires from the AC generator go to a plug under the tank, i have noticed it has been getting very hot and is slightly scorched, everything seems to be checking out ok, just wondered if this was a common fault or needs some additional investigation?

Black wires? Under tank?.....I could swear mine are yellow (but I wouldn't swear to it as I sit here) and the connector is located under the rear right seat panel.....mine got quite melted when the regulator/rectifier went west. Don't know if it was related but as the RR is a weak point it might be worth checking
