New here and looking for help please. Owned my 750 Y for for 10 years no issues until two years ago when stator and reg rectifier were replaced. since the there have been a further 3 replacements the last of which saw the reg rectifier given a direct connection to the battery to try and avoid any bad earths in the loom that were presumed to have caused the other 3 to fail within an average of 1,500 miles. this new fix lasted nearly 3 k miles till it died on holiday in Spain. (Did the Ride Magazine route round Spain - excellent )

Can't bring myself to shell out for more parts till someone can hopefully point me in the right direction to try and diagnose the problem properly. Shop who sold the parts have shrugged their shoulders and said can't help as no idea where to look.

As it stands now formerly faithful bike now in doghouse until a proper solution can be found. Any thoughts or suggestions gratefully accepted or indeed the name of a reliable auto electrician in the Herts area, although can travel

Was the stator a genuine unit? If you have had to replace the reg/rectifier 3 times since replacing the stator then I would say the fault lies with the stator. It will either be putting too much current out or too little., or fitted incorrectly. This is just what I think could be wrong, might be something else. I would take it to a reputable bike shop in your area. Try talking to them about the problem first to see if its something they think they can fix before spending loads of money on labour/diagnosis.
