Gear Indicator quirk

Hi I've got a 750 k6, I've noticed the gear indicator gets confused when in first because it shows second sometimes(more often than not) and when I shift in to second it'll show third for a moment but then flick back to show second. Is this something that's just annoying and I've gotta live with or is there something I can do to sort it? The bike has just under 9k on the clocks with no modifications.

I had this similar problem on my 600 k6, take the front sprocket cover off and clean out all the old grease and gunk that has built up, also the gear position indicator is behind there so you can clean all that up with some brake cleaner aswell. It should work fine after that, mine did anyway.
