Running without an air filter?

Hi all,

Just bought a 2000 gsxr 750.

The previous owner said he has been running it without an air filter.

As I'm planning to use this as my daily vehicle and will be riding in all weathers I'm thinking it would be better for the engine to put one in but as it has a micron slip on exhaust would it make it run too lean?

The previous owner loved this bike a lot and the condition is immaculate and he is a hell of a lot more knowledgeable than me and obviously knows the bike better than I do but I would have thought no air filter couldn't be good for the engine long term.

It doesn't have a power commander.

Apologies if this is a newb question.

Thanks

Get a filter on ASAP, running without one is asking for problems

The bike will be happier, you will be happier and no crap will go in your engine. It won't run lean with a filter in place, if anything it'll run a little bit richer. Gixers always run better on super unleaded too
