7 years ago I sold my GSXR 750 K5 track and road bike. I was 55 years old and taking early retirement. I decided the sensible thing to do was to stop playing at being Valentino, get an adventure bike, some expensive textile gear, a helmet with a peak on and accept that my days of scraping knee sliders on tarmac or a five figure rpm sound track were now distant memories.
Well, yesterday, on a whim, I took an 08 gsxr 750 from a local dealer for a spin just for old times sake. Its now in my garage, I have a track day booked at Bedford and my old leathers have been dusted down and given a generous coat of wax.
It just felt great to be back on something that was light and powerful, handled so intuitively and had such a gorgeous sound track.
Feels like coming home!
